Domestic air conditioning FAQs

Clear answers about installation, running costs, servicing and using air conditioning at home.

Does domestic air conditioning heat as well as cool?

Yes. Modern air conditioning systems operate as efficient heat pumps, providing cooling during warmer weather and heating during colder months.

Which rooms can have air conditioning?

Systems can be installed in bedrooms, home offices, loft conversions, conservatories, nurseries, living rooms and many other residential spaces.

How often should a home air conditioning system be serviced?

We provide annual servicing for residential systems we have installed. Regular maintenance helps preserve efficiency, cleanliness and dependable performance.

Is air conditioning expensive to run?

Running costs depend on the system, room size, insulation and usage. Modern inverter technology continuously adjusts the compressor output to match the temperature needed, rather than repeatedly running at full power and switching off. This can improve efficiency, maintain a steadier temperature and reduce unnecessary energy use.

Can air conditioning improve indoor air quality?

Built-in filtration can help remove dust, pollen and some pollutants from circulating air. Fresh air ventilation can further improve the indoor environment.

Are modern air conditioning units noisy?

Quality domestic systems are designed for quiet operation. We select and position units carefully, especially in bedrooms and home offices.

Do I need planning permission for home air conditioning?

Many domestic installations may fall within permitted development, but restrictions can apply because of outdoor-unit position, size and noise, listed-building status or a conservation area. We can advise on these practical constraints and explain when you may need to contact your local planning authority.

How long does installation take?

A straightforward single-room installation can often be completed within a day. Larger or multi-room projects require more time and will be explained during quotation.

Which areas do you cover?

We work across Maidenhead, Windsor, Reading, High Wycombe, Marlow, Henley-on-Thames, Bracknell, Ascot, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Cookham, Taplow and Burnham, plus surrounding areas.

Do you offer repairs for existing systems?

We service and repair residential air conditioning systems that we have installed. A complimentary system health check is included with repair work.
